High-quality audio is essential for any production. Our hire options cover a range of microphones and radio kits, each designed for a specific purpose.
We offer Sony ECM 77, Sennheiser, and equivalent microphones, along with a full range of radio kits, ideal for presentations, lectures, conferences, and live broadcasts.
Our microphone options include:
Lapel (lavalier) microphones: Attach to clothing for clear voice capture, available in omnidirectional or directional models, perfect for capturing clear, intelligible speech.
Handheld microphones: Ideal for presenters, interviews, or on-stage use.
Stand-mounted microphones: Perfect for conferences, lectures, or stationary setups.
Radio microphones offer flexibility, allowing you to record audio directly to cameras, audio recorders, or public address systems, often with support from an audio mixer.
All our equipment is professionally maintained, fully tested, and ready to perform, so you can focus on delivering your production with crystal-clear sound.
Lapel microphones are small, discreet microphones that clip to clothing and are ideal for presentations, lectures, conferences, and broadcast work. Sony ECM 77, Sennheiser, and equivalent models are compatible with radio transmitters or wired setups. Available in omnidirectional or directional versions, they provide superb clarity while minimising background noise. Each speaker requires a dedicated microphone to ensure every voice is captured clearly and intelligibly.
The Sony ECM 77 is the broadcast industry standard lapel microphone, offering a good balance of omnidirectional (all-around) pick-up and good sensitivity.
Very similar to the Sony offering, although maybe with a brighter, less bass-heavy sound.
It can often be difficult to achieve good quality voice pick-up but the ECM-44 can help get good results. The microphone’s capsule is designed for general voice pick-up with a mid-frequency emphasis characteristic and a suitable frequency response.
Unbranded lapel microphone. Works well and suitable for hostile environments where there is a risk of damage or loss.

Directional microphones are commonly used in film and television, typically in cardioid or hyper-cardioid pickup patterns to capture sound from a specific source while reducing background noise.
Handheld microphones are designed to be held or clipped to a stand for singing, speaking, or instrument use. They perform best at close range, up to 1–2 metres, delivering clear, focused audio with minimal ambient noise.
The Sennheiser MKH 416 is a premium short gun interference tube microphone. The excellent directivity and a compact design are ideal qualities for universal use in film, radio and television, especially for outdoor broadcast applications. It has a switchable bass cut filter. A very popular microphone.
The AKG C 568 B has high directivity and a wide frequency response, making it a perfect tool for theatre, sound reinforcement, and film/TV applications. Below 500 Hz, it functions as a hypercardioid microphone; above 500 Hz, the acoustic interference tube introduces increasing directivity. A bass cut filter effectively suppresses rumble and wind noise.
The C1000 S multi-purpose small-diaphragm condenser microphone is extremely popular for its versatility. It features a bass-cut switch and a switchable -10 db pad. Three different frequency settings can add more clarity to speech and instrument sounds. The polar pattern can quickly be switched from cardioid to hyper-cardioid.
In my opinion, it is not as directional as others we have, which can be good or bad, depending.
The T-Bone EM 9600 directional condenser shotgun is suitable for video, voice, and choir recording. It has a switchable pick-up pattern. Although it is a budget microphone, it produces very good results.

The ECM-MS957 single-point stereo microphone is ideally suited for recording live concerts, conferences, and interviews. A mid/Side (MS) switch selects the pickup angle between the left and right channels. Choose 90° for a single voice or instrument, or 120° to pick up many voices and instruments arranged across the stage. A rotating mid capsule allows the user to adjust the stereo pickup pattern for the widest range of recording situations.
Fitted with a stereo mini-jack plug.
The V7 is a super-cardioid model designed for live use. This is a top-rated, robust, dynamic microphone.
It can plug into a radio module and this can be a very good alternative to cable.

Wireless microphones offer great flexibility, but they require careful setup to avoid interference. Each radio link needs its own channel, and larger setups—8 channels or more—benefit from an experienced operator to manage frequencies, supervise the audio mixer, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
For smaller setups, a simple two-channel system is usually trouble-free. Our Sony and equivalent kits are “best in class,” with flexible transmitters that can plug directly into microphones. In the UK, certain radio frequencies require a licence, while others are exempt but can be more prone to interference.
We’re always happy to offer advice on setting up your wireless audio to get reliable, crystal-clear results—please do ask.
The Sennheiser XS wireless 1 kit is easy to use. It comes with a base receiver and two hand-held wireless E825s microphones. These cardioid dynamic microphones are for vocals and speech and work well when singers spontaneously change the pick-up angle and move further away from the capsule, which happens – often.
It has diversity receivers, which means it has two receivers per channel built in and automatically switches to the one with the best signal.
We have kit on the E band and kit on the channel 38 band.

These are DAT tapes. In my opinion, they still have a place, for example, as a safety copy because it is a lossless format.
