How Cardinal Broadcast Helped Bring Greenaway Live to the Stream

Community events have a unique energy, bringing together great causes, talented performers, and passionate audiences. We recently had the privilege of partnering with the Greenaway Foundation to help boost brand awareness for their signature music event, Greenaway Live.

Currently a vibrant one-day music festival, the foundation has ambitious plans to expand Greenaway Live into a full three-day family festival spanning Friday through Sunday. To help lay the technical foundation for this exciting future, Cardinal Broadcast was brought on to deliver a complete production package spanning lighting, sound, and broadcast video.

Streamlining Event Production Through Strategic Partnership

Organising a live festival requires seamless communication across technical disciplines. To deliver a friction-free experience for the Greenaway Foundation, we partnered with a trusted audio and lighting specialist.

By subcontracting sound and lighting to specialist industry partners, Cardinal Broadcast managed the overall technical integration. This unified approach streamlined site management, simplified communication for the event organisers, and ensured that the stage looked and sounded exceptional throughout the event.

Dynamic Multi-Camera Coverage for the Main Stage

While the crowd enjoyed the live performances in person, our core focus at Cardinal Broadcast was capturing the on-stage energy and transmitting it to a broader digital audience.

We deployed a dynamic, multi-camera rig tailored specifically to capture high-energy live music across the five bands performing on the main stage:

• 3x Band New Sony Z300 Cameras: Stationed on heavy-duty tripods to deliver smooth, high-definition wide and mid-range shots of the stage.

• 2x Sony FX30 Cameras: Utilized for cinema-grade optics and depth-of-field, capturing intimate, impactful close-ups of vocalists and instrumentalists.

• 1x PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) Camera: Positioned strategically to offer unique, automated wide angles of the stage and audience.

The Crew Behind the Broadcast

Gear is only as effective as the team operating it. A dedicated live broadcast crew powered our production:

• 3 Tripod Camera Operators responsible for steady, composed shots of stage action.

• 1 RF Roaming Camera Operator moving dynamically around the stage to catch spontaneous moments, solo performances, and artist interactions.

• 1 Technical Director managing the live video switching and stream health.

Using an ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, our Technical Director mixed the multi-camera feed live, delivering a polished, TV-quality broadcast streamed straight to the Greenaway Foundation’s official YouTube channel.

Building a Lasting Legacy for Artists and the Charity

Our involvement went beyond real-time streaming. By using ISO (isolated) recording capabilities, we recorded each camera feed individually throughout the day. This setup yielded significant long-term benefits:

1. High-Quality Media for Performing Bands: Each of the five main-stage bands received full multitrack ISO footage of their set. This gave artists professionally captured material to edit demo reels, social media clips, and music videos.

2. A Growing Promotional Archive: The raw footage provided the Greenaway Foundation with a comprehensive content library. These assets will power upcoming marketing campaigns, helping to raise brand awareness, attract sponsors, and drive ticket sales as Greenaway Live expands into a multi-day festival.
